I started biking to work about 5 years ago after discovering that several coworkers who lived near me commuted by bike. If they could, so could I! While I do still drive to my office from time to time, I strive to bike to work and around town as much as possible.

Beware that sense of security around leaving your bike unlocked, though. Mine was stolen last year while locked up outside Roots on Hawthorne, and last month my bike post/saddle (not quick-release) were stolen off my bike in front of my office above the Melody Ballroom.

That said, nothing starts and ends my day at work quite so nicely as riding my bike for a few miles, feeling the wind against my face, and letting my mind wander. Ahhhh!
